The stage of recovery is, “Life is Limited”.    They have moved past the initial impact and have started to identify themselves by the perceived limitations caused by their diagnosis.  This is the phase where people have essentially given up on their lives getting better.  The stigma associated with the illness and symptoms of their illness has created a new self-image.  One in which they believe they are no longer capable of living the life they once had.  The “Life is Limited” stage of recovery is living a life without hope.

A life without hope is one that is difficult to live.  It was during this stage of my personal recovery journey that I found myself not merely struggling but suffering through life.  I had learned to accept my fate and understand that it didn’t matter how hard I worked I would always come up short.  I fought through it and found ways to cope:




  




But there were also times when life without hope was too much to bear and the Darkness would creep in allowing the Beast to take control:









Thankfully I survived the multiple attempts to end my life and I am still here to share my story and continue to fight another day:
